Ankylosing Spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic disorder that causes inflammation of the joints and bones of the spine. The disorder can also cause inflammation of the tendons that attach the spine to the pelvis, as well as of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the spine. Over time, the inflammation can lead to new bone formation and the eventual fusion of the spine. This can cause the spine to become rigid and inflexible.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis may affect the entire body, but it most commonly affects the joints of the hands, feet, wrists, and elbows. The condition causes the tissue that lines the joints to thicken, which can eventually lead to joint deformity and loss of function. In rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s immune system attacks its own tissue, including joints. In severe cases, it attacks internal organs.

Systemic lupus erythematosus

Facts about systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) SLE is an autoimmune disorder. Unusual antibody formation in the blood is a sign of SLE. In women compared to men, SLE occurs eight times more frequently. Acute and ongoing inflammation of several body tissues is a symptom of the autoimmune disease lupus. When the body’s own immune system attacks its own tissues, autoimmune diseases emerge.

Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis brought on by the body producing too much uric acid. The body produces uric acid as a waste product when purine-containing substances are broken down. When the body produces too much uric acid, it can crystallize into pointed, needle-like objects that can deposit in joints and result in swelling, redness, and severe pain.

Psoriatic Arthritis

People who have psoriasis may experience psoriatic arthritis, a kind of inflammatory arthritis. It is an autoimmune condition in which healthy cells and tissues are attacked by the body’s immune system. Psoriatic arthritis symptoms might include painful, swollen joints, stiffness, exhaustion, and changes to the nails. Swollen or painful areas around the joints are another symptom of psoriasis.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the body’s tendons, ligaments, and muscles. It may result in widespread soreness and pain, as well as problems with mood, memory, and sleep.

Sjogren's syndrome

Sjögren’s syndrome is divided into primary and secondary forms. The symptoms include keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes), xerostomia (dry mouth), and parotid gland swelling. Extraglandular features of primary Sjögren’s syndrome include fatigue, Raynaud’s phenomenon, polyarthralgia, interstitial lung disease, neuropathy, and purpura. Treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome currently aims to provide symptomatic treatment for dry eyes and dry mouth, as well as control extraglandular manifestations of disease.

Scleroderma

Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease affecting the skin and other organs of the body, in which body’s immune system is causing inflammation in these tissues. The main finding in scleroderma is thickening and tightening of the skin and inflammation and scarring of many body parts, leading to problems in the lungs, kidneys, heart, intestinal system and other areas. Effective treatments for some forms of the disease are available to control the disease progression.

Dermatomyositis/Polymyositis

Dermatomyositis is a rare disease that causes muscle inflammation and skin rash. It’s one of a group of muscle diseases that cause muscle inflammation and swelling. Polymyositis causes muscle weakness affecting both sides of your body. Having this condition can make it difficult to climb stairs, rise from a seated position, lift objects or reach overhead.Although there’s no cure for polymyositis, treatment can improve your muscle strength and function. The earlier treatment is started in the course of polymyositis, the more effective it is — leading to fewer complications.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that occurs mainly in older individuals. Risk factors include age, joint location, obesity, genetic predisposition, joint malalignment, trauma, and gender. Most current medical treatments aim to improve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis along with muscle strengthening exercises ,rehabilitation and weight loss.

Vasculitis

Vasculitis is a term for a group of rare diseases that cause inflammation of blood vessels including arteries and/or veins. There are many types of vasculitis, and they may vary greatly in symptoms, severity and duration. Timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment is absolutely necessary to prevent life threatening complications.
